Supercut - Every Anime Opening Ever Made

El video:

No it's not every anime opening ever, it's just a title. Music: Ayu's Euro Mega-Mix [Y & Co. Mix] by Ayumi Hamasaki http://www.animemusicvideos.or... It's always amused me the repeated imagery that exist in anime opening credit sequences. This video doesn't cover them all, but it has a lot of the big ones. Interesting thing I learned, if a character is running it's overwhelmingly to the left of the screen. I first started thinking about this years ago when I saw the X-Men intro that they made in Japan to replace the American one. The part that especially hit home was Wolverine, and Cyclops standing on some nondescript land mass. For this I used only textless credits I found on Youtube (with the exception of Evangelion). So if your favorite anime isn't in here either there was no textless version, the clip quality was bad, or it had a pretty unique opening sequence. Here's the complete list of what anime made it into this. 009-1 Ah! This isn't a bad thing. Also, you used the same Anime several times so it really doesn't make it seem like most openings do this.

h/t +Andy Hauge I won't be unseeing this when I watch anime. (Nothing horrifying, I'd just never thought about this before and now I expect I'll continue to see the patterns shown here.)

My god it's so perfect. They do this, because these similarities we see help set the right mood for viewers to get into their respective anime. A running group towards an unknown destination; a tearful maiden of hope and passion; a playful push out of the camera's view. These and more tactics/techniques help establish your mind-frame to get ready for the experience. If it works well...why change it?

I know this is a lot of work, but it would have been cool if you would have made annotations in the video for the names of the animes.

At least the music in this video is much better than the fucking overwrought crap found in 90% of anime openings. It's almost always terrible. Exceptions include Cowboy Bebop, and... well, I don't actually really care for anime all that much, so I wouldn't know. I totally dig the art style, but the cheesy dialogue, grating voiceovers (BOTH Japanese and English), whiny characters, and meandering plots really turn me off. If anyone knows of any anime that functions more like a live-action show in animated form and does away with the tropes that drive me absolutely up the fucking wall, please let me know, and I'll look into it.
