DIY Arcade Stick with Sanwa parts: Test rig version.

I was bored today so I decided to head to Akihabara and see if I could find the parts necessary to build my own arcade stick. I was able to find a Sanwa parts store so I bought a JFL stick and standard Sanwa 30mm buttons. I then browsed around some of the other local stores and found myself a really cheap Buffalo USB Playstation style gamepad to hack the PCB for to use as my interface. Wired everything up to a test rig and low and behold it works! Next up is to put everything into a studier case instead of a $1 plastic bin lol.

Brock, I have a friend that custom made his own home arcade. He installed all this inside a custom built plywood box with all the necessary components. He installed in it all the Atari, NES, Super NES and Sega Genesis games along with the appropriate emulators. After he was done he painted the outside of the case with a custom paint job. It was a awesome looking unit. Maybe you could do something similar? Anyway good job!

Wow a 6 face button gamepad hard to find those anymore I so miss them. I recommend static resistant cardboard boxes for mockups I recommend them they open and close which is nice as well

Kenny, I'm actually thinking about finding an old broken VCR/Home theater amp/etc and then just gutting the insides and cutting holes on the top. If I do that I won't have to fab the shape of the box and it should provide a really solid base, especially if I can find some old 80's model when stuff was still built like a tank. I figure I could also use some of the stock face plate buttons and wire them in as my start and select buttons. We'll see.
