im a big film person - bergman, hitchcock etc... i especially love animated films - obviously disney and all the big anime films, but also lots of really obscure ones. this is by far my favourite film of all time. everything about it is beautiful to a point of perfection. it was released at the indie cinema near me and i saw it (literally) every day it was on (7).

I'm not going to spoil anything for those who have not seen this film yet, but all I'm going to say is that at the end of this film, I was very depressed.

I have just watched it and it's wonderful. There are no subtitles, neither is it a silent film with just music. There's some talking, but it's very sparse. Sometimes in French, sometimes in English. Most of the story is told visually and much of the emotion comes from the music. As with other Chomet films it's a feast for the eyes and probably deserves multiple viewings just to take it all in.

Haha, they had no need for too much research, the studios were based in Edinburgh at the time, and I think Sylvain lived in Scotland for roughly 10 years
