Part 3. In circa 1983, I was sitting with your Dad on the back deck of the house looking over the valley and hills down below the California house he retired to. Told, Dick, some day the Santa Anna winds might come up from down below and all that dried brush down there & up the hill below your house might somehow be on fire. He laughed, Jeff, said there was no record of any fires from the previous owners. "Never happen" he said. I said if it did happen the house would be toast. And then it was.

To continue, your Dad said the motor might be bad in the car when I got it and took it back to my town of Rockford, IL. It really was the fact that you and Rick really "had fun" with that car, didn't you guys? I found that two plug wires were crossed solving the motor problem. Your Dad wanted new carpets but after Rick got the car airborne around the subdivision, he bent the long seat bolts over 90 degrees when the car slammed down over a hill and bottomed out. The stories I could tell you.

ah, Jeff. You were a young man when I meet you at the Bloomfield Hills house. Got shown your Dad's brass-era cars he loved so much at the time and the circa 1963 silver Ferrari Berlinetta. Had you Dad and Mom to 4 of my Kenosha year AMX club conventions. You Mom and Dad were always wonderful to me and I loved them both.Saw your Dad a summer before he passed. Saw your Mom with my wife Linda on vacation from Denver the next summer. You Dad gave me the car for an engine problem and paint in 1979.

Ok, add this to things to do when I graduate college and get a good job... 1 buy 71/72 AMX and restore it, then road trip cross-country with some friends to an all amc show like this.Love that AMX III. Wouldn't mind having one of the kit cars, built right!

The stock cars racing in the background are distracting. It makes me want to wander over that way and see what's running. I grew up within a block of a track and if I climbed a tree in the back yard I could see the back straight. Dad and I spent a lot of time there, we'd leave the Rambler parked and walk over. LOL

dont forget, allways put 1% good smokefree two stroke oil in your fuel, because modern ultra dry eco fuel with alcohol destroy your carbs, fuelpumps, lines and tanks, here in Germany US Car clubs suggest the same, also Bosch and GM
