It's actually a game named Ben Burtt. He was the lead sound designer for Star Wars, Indiana Jones, and a lot of other blockbuster hits. After he found the Wilhelm Scream on a sound reel, he started incorporating it into all of his films.

According to the IMDb, Pvt. Wilhelm was played by Ralph Brooks [1915-1992] , who seems to have had quite a career in bit parts. However, looking at some comments here, it looks like he became famous for another man's scream. |
