If I'm correct this was the original way the story was supposed to go, but
switch writing teams mid development and you get this boondoggle of an
ending we are stuck with. All because the extended cut debunked this
doesn't mean the IT wasn't the original plan. Bio ware had no choice to to
write themselves out of it because sadly, when I look around the fan
community, is see truly intelligent people who want a good story but I also
see idiots who want a grand blockbuster they are the star of. And in the
end bio ware copped out, took the low road plain and simple. This theory
had the lore to support it all the way up to Priority Earth, if you rebuke
the obvious evidence you are a fool at this point.

Kinda sceptical on this theory, very well put together video however, great

so when shepard "wakes up" after the "indoctrination fight" the war is
still on, i mean, we must expect mass effect 4 will start from this point?
Casper Anklehair (el 27/11/13 a las 4:09 pm)
what a bullshit, this is just a theory made for the people who don't accept
the mass effect ending as it is. Some people don't have problems with it
and synthesis and control are not "bad" endings, a crying EDI and reapers
rebuilding the world is way more better than just total destruction. And
you are not the illusive man or saren because they WHERE indoctrinated,
Shepard is not !!!

A great theory, but there is one major flaw no one acknowledges:
Indoctrination is permanent, and a person controlled by Reapers loses the
ability to think for himself/herself, they follow the ideas and commands of
the Reapers without havign second thoughts or questioning them.

I must say, this theory is really amazing. Altho after the extended cut/new
cutscenes its obvious it not real, this kind of lore speculation is still
absolutely amazing. I almost wish it was true also. If they really would
have thought at Bioware all these details so that this would have been what
actually happened, it would have been the most clever writing I would have
ever seen in gaming. This theory is on par or even better than most
DarkSouls-lore speculations out there. But great job with this! Truly
entertaining also and makes you think! :)

There is a reference to a book called "Brave New World" which was written
in 1932 in the ending notes. Had something to do with mind
control--indoctrination as well as psychological manipulation (just reading
over the summary).
Zach Scheuerman (el 25/11/13 a las 10:35 pm)
Still one of the best theories out there. I love the mind games and
trickery. Wish this was true for the real ending and not the extended cut.

If your theory is correct then if you choose the Destroy ending and win the
mind war, that only means you've resisted indoctrination... it doesn't mean
you've defeated the Reapers. They would still be there blowing up the
earth. What next then?
Extended cut pretty much debunked the theory. It answers a number of your

I can answer one of the last questions. Depending on who you bring in the
mission and if you had a good relationship with them, Shepard will have the
Normandy pick them up. And one question you didn't mention the fourth
ending. Once you are done talking with the illusion of the child at the
end of the game, you turn around and shot him then he replies with a
demonic voice and says "So be it" and he then destroys the Reaper Destroyer
Device and Liara's Project she was working on, starts playing. If you can
explain that ending that would help understand this amazing game.
