I trained several months in Shôdôkan dôjô. Really happy to see most of the sensei who taaught to me.About the name "shôdôkan" 尚道館 尚 is the okinawan Shô dynasty's kanji, 道 "dô" is the "way" and 館 is the"place". So the name means "the place of the way of Shô" or in other words "the place of Okinawa".

This is Sanchin Tencho. Traditionally Speaking, Sanchin and Tencho are Preformed separately from each other. Sanchin is preformed at the beginning of each class after warm up to bring in energy from the universe, like wise, tencho is at the end of the class to give that energy back to use it next class when ever that may be.

Tensho IS a Sanchin Kata. So you can't really combine it with Sanchin.
Koryuhoka (el 27/03/10 a las 6:38 pm)
There is only ONE Tensho. The term "Sanchin Tensho" is a western creation. Please note that I said "TERM".

Unpleasant... In actual self practice, your breath is not loud as in the video. This is done so your Teacher can hear if you are breathing in the correct patterns. In demonstrations, I guess it adds to the sensationalism.

Fatdoi003 - This Shodokan is a Branch of Okinawan Goju Ryu from the Seiko Higa Lineage. He was a fellow student of Miyagi Sensei under Higaonna Kanryo and became student of Miyagi Sensei when Higaonna, their Sensei, passed on. I'm not sure if the Kanji is the same... probably not.
IEKUKATAKA (el 05/02/10 a las 1:01 pm)
Apparently not, sir. The commentator plainly says it is a Goju organization.

Now that you say this I presume maybe teachers enforced the noises so the they would know they are doing the breathing. |
