I found this VERY interesting. Here I am a speech therapist in the USA and I correct so many vocalic /r/ sounds, so that children can say "bird" and not "boid" and "earth" and not "oith". A little exaggerated, but quite good, nonetheless. You could pass for someone from the mid-west or Texas. I'm in California and articulation skills are different than the rest of the country. Check out the "Californian's" on Saturday Night Live. A real crack up!
