Since the industrial revolution, manufacturing nations have manufactured a lot AND paid high wages. From a Keynesian perspective, we should have been in big trouble after WWII because defense spending fell so much, but we did just fine. Europe and Japan did recover, produce and compete, all the while paying pretty good wages.US manufacturing could certainly get a boost today from cheap energy. This is within reach, but we turn away due to scare mongering by environmental extremists. Etc.

In the 1950's we were the only manufacturing country in the world. That is the reason the American work was the highest worker. Back then there was no Toyota, Nissan, or Honda. The only things that we imported from Japan was small items, such as ash trays. The rest of the Pacific rim was still in the 19th century.

Anyone against capitalism and/or think crony-capitalism (current america) is how capitalism works, really need to do their research. Socialism = big government, big government = higher taxes, higher taxes = less productivity, less productivity = less jobs.Educate yourselves fools. (This coming from someone who lost a brother to the terrible healthcare in a socialist country)
