Please, I mourn the loss of my youth. One of my friends put it 40 is the age of youth and 50 is youth of age. I agree, I'm getting younger every day lol. Had a part time job with ADP then on weekends and started at 7 AM listening to WNEW and Vin Scelsa play the Records, Buzzvocks and even Cougar when he was rock. Remember New Musik "Straight Lines"? Music was so much better then.

You're the first person I've run into to be at that show! Was beginning to think I imagined the whole thing. LOL

Wasn't that a great show. Small crowd and a fantastic day. I remember walking past the arena before an Joe was pounding out some great stuff on piano. Fantastic memories.

Saw The Records open for Joe Jackson at Great Adventure in NJ back in '79 . Believe it was the first tour in the US for both artists. They were both great that day! Memories.

i did listen to Do Anything...and i do agree.....the melody is pretty much as you say. im always on the look out for that kinda thing. i vividly remember a song by dire straits?.. two months later, if that, im listening to the radio and i hear the same riff in the beginning,,and im thinking WTF is this?,,and it was a new rod stewart song......same kinda deal as these two. i wish i could think of the song names. they had a catchy little riff...through-out the whole song. kinda medium slow tunes.

This song itself is a rip off of Do Anything You Wanna Do by Eddie and the Hot Rods.

The only flaw in this song is that at about four and a half minutes, it goes on too long. Cool little power pop songs like this one need to get in, get it done, and get out without wearing out their welcome. That means about 2:30 to 3:00 minutes. The immediacy and compactness is part of the appeal. |
