I agree. One of the best YEC they've had in a long time. However, Zvonereva, Safina, and Jankovic were still under fire as being lucky compared to the rest of the field. Dementieva really cemented her position in the top 8 for years. But I would say that the top 8 in this YEC was definitely well earned for all players.

I like to call it: One of those RARE occasions where basically all 8 players that made the YEC were just that good.I mean what other excuse do you have for every player in a round robin group coming out with at least one win?...I mean you'd only expect that when the likes of Venus, Serena, Dementieva, and Kuznetsova all end up in the same damn group.I don't think I've ever seen a stronger round robin group...not even in the men's tournament!
